Update on the upcoming months for Elska

When the virus crisis began, I instantly put some plans for Elska on hold. I mostly kept quiet about the details though because I never felt certain enough about what was happening to know what to say. But now that the world appears to be starting its gradual re-opening, I’d like to give an update on what’s been happening and what’s coming for Elska.

The 'elskalistinn' page of our next Elska release, ready to be cut and all sewed up at KOPA, our printers

1- First of all, we had planned to release a brand new issue this month, which was shot in January back when I thought covid-19 was a localised concern. However, because of the temporary closure of the vast majority of our stockists, major delays to shipping, and my inability to travel and shoot other future issues, I decided not to release it yet. I am now looking to publish it in July.

2- Then, because I didn't want to leave any sort of gap in our normal bi-monthly release schedule, I decided to run a vote to re-issue a past sold-out Elska. The winner of that has just finished being printed and will be officially re-released on 26th May. This re-print is actually a total remaking of the issue, with loads of previously unseen images, new stories, and even a re-written Elska Ekstra to accompany it. More details to follow, but if you have a keen eye, you'll be able to tell from the pictures which city it is.

3- Also next week I am releasing a side project. This is a little book entitled 'Fifteen Icelandic Swimming Pools'. A sort of pictorial travel memoir, the book is filled with snaps and extended diaries from a trip I took to Iceland last November/December. I had meant the trip to be a de-stress holiday, but I ended up challenging myself to visit as many swimming pools as possible and also did a cheeky little nude photoshoot of a guy up in Akureyri. I'm not 100% sure, but this will probably be available in print only, to keep it a little more exclusive, but electronic subscribers will get an e-version.*

*Note to all our annual subscribers: Both the new mag and a copy of 'Fifteen Icelandic Swimming Pools' will be provided; Deluxe subscribers will also get the renewed Elska Ekstra.

4- Lastly, for those of you who may have noticed, back in February I announced a shoot trip to São Paulo. I managed to move the flights (which were in March) to November, so hopefully our first Brazilian issue will still be shot then. I also have two shoot trips planned for September which hopefully will be able to go ahead as normal. I'll announce those cities in due course.
